Suspenders
"Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose. A glaze binder which is added to friable glazes that contain little clay content. Up to 3% maybe be used. SCMC also has deflocculatory power which is useful in low-clay glazes to keep them in suspension. Beware of over-thinning. It cannot be used in conjunction with calcium chloride in glazes of high clay content. SCMC is used in engobes and slurries for clay stage joining where it provides useful fluidity without too much water content."
- The Potter's Dictionary of Materials and Techniques
We also carry a liquid flocculant that can be used for glaze suspension. Click here to see more about Flocs.
