Orton Small Cone Plaque

For use with Orton Small Cones. Each plaque has 4 holes for holding cones. Use up to cone 16 (1475° C). Each 4-hole plaque measures approximately 3" x 0.65".

Industrial Cone Plaques
Orton Pyrometric cones are the most accurate way to monitor a firing... but only if they are used the same way, every time. The Orton Foundation recommend the use of Industrial Cone Plaques, to get the highest accuracy from your cones through uniform mounting... and save time and money too.

With Industrial Plaques your cones will deform uniformly... because they have been set uniformly. When you use Industrial Plaques, irregular cone deformation is a signal to check your instruments, or even your firing procedure. Industrial Plaques make stdnard cones truly standard. Industrial Plaques are easy to use.

		Change in Making = Change in Mounting Please Read Carefully! The location of the identifying cone number has changed from the bending face of the cone to the side of the cone (Figure 1). This change in location of the identifying number was necessary in order to make the cones by a dry pressing process that produces a better, more uniform cone. Please use this new mounting technique if you are using Industrial Cone Plaques. Insert the cone so that the number side is toward the back of the plaque (Figure 2). After all cones are inserted in the plaque press a dab of clay or refractory cement around the bottom of each cone to hold them solidly in place (Figure 3).
