In 1970 Susan Peterson, then professor of ceramics at the University of Southern
California, was asked by CBS-KNXT to create a series of 54 half hour television
shows on ceramic art. The series was rebroadcast for two years.
The original tapes are now archived in the New York State College of Ceramics
library at Alfred University.
In dynamic color this series features Susan performing ceramic processes on a
studio set; she also uses film clips, drawings, slides, objects and other visuals
on every show. All ceramic subects are covered: hand building, throwing, mold
making, casting, design, decorating, clay and glaze composition, glaze calculation,
kilns, firing industrial processes, ceramic history and ceramic artists.
Potters will enjoy individual tapes or groups of tapes. Students of all ages will
benefit from the use of these tapes. |
