Bluebird's mid-sized pug mills offer high quality wedging, reclaiming, and extruding capabilities in situations where clay use averages 1000 to 2000 lbs per month. Either is an excellent investment for the mid-sized production potter or school/university ceramic department; either also serves as a back-up machine for the larger production pottery. While using the auger design and construction materials found in earlier mid-sized pugmills, these incorporate new design features:
- Barrel ports to permit removal of two-part stainless screens for cleaning without removing barrel
- Horizontal ribbing on interior walls of barrel aiding clay flow, especially of fine-particled bodies
- Horizontal mounting of components for improved durability and easier access when servicing
