The centering
tool mounts onto the table of your electric potter’s wheel.
Note that mounting the centering tool requires that you drill holes into
that table top so that the centering tool may be securely bolted in place.
Now, place your clay on the wheel. Instead of centering the traditional
way, with your hands alone, pull the arm of the centering tool into the
clay. The sheet of metal comes into the clay at an angle that will quickly
and easily center it. It will work on very small balls of clay up to very
large sizes. The centering tool is pictured in photographs 1, 2 and 3 above.
The opening tool is an optional addition to the centering
tool. It fits onto the same shaft that is mounted onto the wheel for the
centering tool and it slides onto that shaft so that it sits just above
the centering tool. The opening tools allows you to open your pots with
little effort. It allows even new potters to open their pots while keeping
the clay centered. Photos 1, 2 and 4 above illustrate the opening tool.
