Axner Super Premium Clay: Raku Clays

Axner Raku Clays are listed in the cone 06 - 04 category, which is approximately the range in which Raku takes place. However, all Axner Raku Clays will tolerate higher temperature, up to cone 10 in some instances. Raku clays are formulated to withstand the thermal-shock of a raku firing. They are typically heavily grogged.

Click to enlarge.	Kemenyffy Raku This body has been developed and is used by the two well known raku artists, Susan and Steven Kemenyffy. This Axner version is different only in that we use a slightly different fire clay. This body is very coarse and is best suited for hand-building and sculpting. Note: Kemenyffy Raku is no longer regularly stocked. Please take a look at Sylvia's Raku as an alternative clay. Click to enlarge.	EM711 Sylvia's Raku For a raku body, this clay throws EXTREMELY well. It fires to a buff color at cone 6 oxidation and lighter at cone 05 (raku). It is a dense, very plastic body designed primarily for raku work. Click to enlarge.	EM712 Max's White Sculpture/Raku Fires gray-stony white in reduction at cone 10, off white at cone 8 oxidation, and bright white at cone 05 (raku). It is a rough textured, low shrinkage body designed for large-scale hand-built sculpture and tile work where thick cross sections (up to 1 inch) are anticipated.
